On friendship, perfumes, social entrepreneurship and world peace. The most unexpected discovery within the list. Hard to summarize but truly worth a watch. The documentary follows Barb Stegemann and the journey to her ethically sourced fragrance brand, 7virtues. It also features the 7virtues supplier and Afganistan businessman Abdullah Arsala, who's mission is cultivating roses and orange blossoms in order to fight the illegal poppy trade and its opium addiction in Afganistan. BBC FOUR PERFUME SERIES
The three episodes series offers an insight look on the perfume industry, with interviews with chemists, noses and entrepreneurs working for Estee Lauder, Guerlain and Hermes. Available on BBC Play.
SCENTS FROM HEAVEN: ON THE TRAIL OF OUD
Al Jazeera's documentary shows a not so known reality of perfumery to its consumer: the origins and production of raw materials, in this case specifically Oud. It allows the viewer to find out why raw materials are so expensive, the mafia involvement in Oud trade and how fragrances' black market works. Available on Al Jazeera's Youtube channel.
